BUILDING A COMMUNITY

Pike County is a wonderful place full of potential and the Friends have been a big part of the growth.  Especially near the County Seat, Milford, and nearby Dingmans Township, where the PCPL has branches. The PCPL is the perhaps the finest example of a county or regional Library. The PCPL branches are destinations for many of the citizens of Pike. The leadership and staff have maintained the traditional and well-loved tradition of borrowing reading materials while expanding the services and features of the new digital and internet-based lending sources.  Access to information and services provided by governmental, non-governmental organizations, and private

how we make a difference

There is something magical about the Friends.  Through the work of dedicated volunteers, The Friends create value from their efforts.  Books that in many cases will most likely be, sadly, eventually destroyed because of the deteriorating condition, loss of storage, favorite collections, children’s books left by children outgrowing them or moving away.  before closing on a house, helping a family member clean out or downsize a dwelling. Books, often thought of as a special possession, are often re-read and thought of as a treasure.  This may be why folks tend to put off dealing with accumulating books until poor storage and time take their toll.  Unfortunately by the time possible donners act, the books are no longer able to be stored with other books because of mildew or water damage and they wind up being disposed of as garbage or recycled. This very sad thing, made more tragic, by loss of the book.  A book that could become the favorite of someone else.
